This is a tool that is located on the Data Cleaning section of the Edit tab.
Function
The Dissolve Events interface () allows the user to dissolve or merge coincident segments in the Roads & Highways event layers. Only linear events can be edited in this interface.
Controls
This interface hosts the Data Table dropdown control, alongside these controls:

| Event Dropdown | Select the data item that will be used to dissolve events; all data items are also layers listed on the legend. |
| Route Types Checkboxes | Select which route types will be used when dissolving events. The Select All button can also be used to select all categories. |
| Exclude Non-Inventory Routes Checkbox | Specify if non-inventory routes will be excluded in the results. |
| Find Events Button | Find all events that have coincident segments. |
| Export to Excel Link | Export the information found to an Excel file. |
Dissolve Events
The user will have the ability to dissolve events by following these steps:
- Fill in both filters (Event and Route Types) to find coincident segments within the specified parameters.
- Click the “Find Events” button to the right of the filters. The table on the lower half of the interface will then update to reflect the coincident segments found in the event data.
- Click the "View Segments" link on the desired row. This will open the "Event Data" interface which shows the coincident segments the link was used for.
- Dissolve events by checking the desired checkbox and clicking the “Dissolve Events” button.
