PMG created the Inventory Manager to be an easily navigable application for our clients. There are many areas of the software that require certain fields to be filled out in order to generate results. Therefore, pop-up messages on the application serve as indicators of missing information. Users should be aware of these pop-up messages and their benefits.
An example from the ALDOT Inventory Manager of pop-up messages providing essential instructions is found in the Fix Event Gaps interface under the Edit Tab. Both the Event picklist and Route Types checkboxes are essential fields in this interface. Therefore, a pop-up message will signal to the user that they must fill these fields before finding gaps.
Pop-up messages help users present thorough data and queries in the application. These messages make it obvious why an action cannot be performed and what steps are required to complete the action. The image below shows the pop-up message that will appear if the Route Types checkboxes are left blank on the Fix Event Gaps interface.
