This is a tool that is located on the Sample Adequacy section of the Sample Adequacy tab. 

Function

The Adjust TOPS interface (Adjust_TOPS.png) is used to find small segments where the five TOPS data items do not align at exact measures. The user must Create TOPS before working with this interface.

Tab Descriptions

This interface is divided into three tabs: Summary, Detail, and Changes. 

  1. The Summary Tab is used to identify segments where TOPS data items do not align at exact measures.
  2. The Details Tab is used to compare the number of TOPS locations and number of required samples from the original TOPS set against the number of TOPS locations and number of required samples from the modified TOPS set per Functional System, Urban Code, and Volume Group stratum.
  3. The Changes tab is used to show the user the small segments where the five TOPS data items do not align based on their filters.

Tab Sections

All three tabs (Summary, Detail, and Changes) host similar sections on their interfaces. Those sections are:

  1. Data Table Information -- Contains general information about the currently selected Data Table.
  2. Data To Adjust -- Defines how segments will be merged.
  3. TOPS Changes Summary -- Displays the data generated from the Data Table and Data To Adjust inputs.
  4. Button Controls -- Contains three button controls.

Controls

This interface hosts the Data Table dropdown control, alongside these controls:

Control Section Used To...
Year Dropdown Data Table Information Select the year to use when viewing this interface. 
Statewide/County Radio Buttons Data To Adjust Adjust the data for the entire state or by individual county.
Parent TOPS Data Item Precedence List Data To Adjust Specify the order for obtaining attribute values that will determine how small segments will be merged into adjacent segments (up/down arrows).
Measure Tolerance Textbox Data To Adjust Specify the maximum segment length to merge; includes feet/miles picklist.
View TOPS Changes Button Data To Adjust (Summary Tab) Process the selected TOPS dataset by assessing which segments will merge based on the measure tolerance and precedence set.
Total Samples Required Before Changes Textbox TOPS Changes Summary (Summary Tab) Show the overall number of required samples based on the original TOPS set.
Total Samples Required After Changes Textbox TOPS Changes Summary (Summary Tab) Show the overall number of required samples based on the modified TOPS set.
Difference in Samples Required Textbox TOPS Changes Summary (Summary Tab) Shows the difference in samples.
Caret Symbol TOPS Changes Summary (Details Tab) Expand/Collapse the table and view/hide Urban Codes.
Update TOPS Button Controls Update the selected HPMS Data Table and TOPS table with the modified TOPS set.
Cancel Button Controls Exit out of Adjust TOPS without committing changes. 

Workflow

To find the small segments where the five TOPS data items do not align at exact measures in the Summary tab, users can follow these workflow steps:
