After using the Create TOPS interface, the user can move on to utilize other interfaces in the Sample Adequacy tab. Expansion Factors () is one available sample interface. This interface is used to calculate expansion factors for each Functional System, Urban Code, and Volume Group stratum.
Steps
To calculate expansion factors, follow these steps:
- Select values in the Year and Data picklists.
- Click the "Calculate Expansion Factors" button.
- Select the "Show Problematic Factors Only" checkbox to view expansion factors that do not exceed a maximum of 100.000, the FHWA recommended value. This is an optional step. Stratums that have an expansion factor over the FHWA recommended value of 100.000 can be viewed by leaving this option unchecked.
- Expand/collapse the data on the interface by selecting the caret icons to the left of the Functional System or Urban Code.
In these expanded rows, this information will appear:
| Element | Function |
