The "Find Traffic Sites" section on the Map tab has four manners of locating traffic sites: Route, Counter, CCS #, and More Filters. The Year dropdown and the other fields in this section affect the retrieved data.
Year Dropdown
The Year dropdown determines which year the data will be retrieved from. When any of the four query methods are used (Route, Counter, CCS #, and More Filters), the data will only reflect the year selected in this dropdown.
Other Fields
The other fields that may appear beside the query tools are based on the query tool selected. These fields trigger the query for traffic sites automatically once they are filled. The table below details each query tool and its corresponding fields.
| Tool Name | Related Fields | Visual |
| Route | County, Route Type, Route Number, Direction | |
| Counter | County, Station | |
| CCS # | CCS # |
Route
The Route traffic site tool () requires that all four fields (County, Route Type, Route Number, and Direction) be filled in order for the query to be instigated. The map will automatically update to show the relevant route and its site type/traffic entry once these fields are filled. The user can hover over the route to see its traffic sites and its extended information. If the user clicks a traffic site on the route, they can view the Counter Location pop-up. The "More..." link on this pop-up allows the user to view the counter's full information and edit some of these values.
Counter
The Counter traffic site tool () requires that both fields (County and Station) be filled in order for the query to be instigated. The map will automatically update to show the relevant counter once these fields are filled. The user can hover over the plotted counter point to see some of its information. If the user clicks the point, they can view the Counter Location pop-up. The "More..." link on this pop-up allows the user to view the counter's full information and edit some of these values.
CCS #
The Continuous Count Stations Number (CCS #) traffic site tool () requires that the CCS # field be filled in order for the query to be instigated. The map will automatically update to show the relevant permanent counter once this field is filled. The user can hover over the plotted permanent counter point to see some of its information. If the user clicks the point, they can view the Counter Location pop-up. The "More..." link on this pop-up allows the user to view the counter's full information and edit some of these values.
*Note: Only permanent counters will have a CCS #.
More Filters
The More Filters traffic site tool () leads to a pop-up with additional fields for a query. On this pop-up, the user can fill one or multiple of these filters. Then, they can select the "Filter" button to fill the table below the fields. Once the table results are present, the user can select one or multiple entries to map; the user can also click the "Select All" link to map all the entries. The "Map" button instigates the mapping process after entries are selected. At any point on this pop-up, the user may select the "Reset Filters" button to clear the previous selections. This button does not clear the mapped items. To clear the previously mapped items, the user has two options:
- Enter new filter options, click "Filter," select one or multiple entries, and click "Map."
- Click the "Clear Queries" icon (
).
The user must exit out of the "More Filters" pop-up in order to view the mapped segments. The mapped items can then be used normally (i.e. hover to see the extended information, click to see the Counter Location pop-up, select the "More..." link to edit counter info). The "More Filters" pop-up will not retain the last inputted search after exiting and reentering.
