The User Defined Classes interface allows users to define custom vehicle classifications. Specifically, users will have the ability to create classification schemes, edit a scheme, or delete a scheme. When the user selects the User Defined Classes icon (), this interface will appear:
Add
To add a new vehicle classification, the user can select the "Add New" button. This will enable the lower portion of the screen where the user can enter the Classification Name, Number of Classes, and the Vehicle Class Group. Once the number of classes has been entered, the table will be automatically populated with the numbers, beginning with the number 1.
When the numbers are viewable in the User Defined Class column, the user can assign which FHWA classes should be associated with each of the user-defined classes. To do this, the user can click the pencil icon for the desired class, triggering the appearance of a pop-up. In the pop-up, the user can click on one or more FHWA classes to associate to the selected user-defined class. Then, they can click "Save and Close" to implement the changes and return to the previous screen or "Cancel" to discard the selections.
The user will repeat this process for each class until the table is filled. The "Save Changes" button will be disabled until all user-defined classes have been defined and at least the first 13 FHWA classes have been assigned to one or more of the user-defined classes.
Edit
To edit an existing user-defined vehicle classification, the user can click the desired row in the list.
Then, the user can click on the pencil icon to edit the FHWA Associated Classes. The user can follow the steps listed in the "Add" section to navigate this pop-up. If a user-defined classification is edited, the former version is retained so that it can be referenced in raw data maintenance for those stations/collection periods previously associated with it.
Delete
To delete a user-defined vehicle classification, the user can click on the classification to delete in the list.
Then, the "Delete" button can be selected. If the classification being deleted has never been used to import data, the classification will be deleted from the system once the user confirms their action on the displayed confirmation message. If the classification being deleted has already been used when importing data for one or more sites, the classification will not be deleted but will be flagged as "inactive." An inactive classification will not be available for selection from any interface where classifications are selected.
