The Code List interface allows the privileged user to maintain the relevant Traffic code lists. A code list is a set of items that has at least two pieces of information: a description and a database "code". The purpose of a code list is to present system users with a descriptive text instead of the short database code that is stored in the database table. When the user selects the Code Lists icon (), this interface will appear:
The Code List Maintenance interface is divided into two sections: the Summary area (top) and the Edit area (bottom). There are some controls offered in these sections:
| Control | Area | Description |
| Code List | Summary | This picklist allows the user to select the code list to view and edit. |
| Code List Table | Summary | This table allows the user to select a code to edit and change the codes' display order. |
| Arrows | Summary |
These arrows allow the user to change the codes' display order. They follow this logic:
|
| Edit Fields | Edit |
These fields allow the user to edit the code item's information fields:
*Note: Codes cannot be deleted-- they can only be marked as Obsolete. Obsolete codes will no longer be selectable by the user within other interfaces. |
| Add New Code | Edit | This button adds a new code to the code list. When selected, all the "Edit Fields" will be emptied for new values to be added. The "Save Changes" button can be used to save the new code once it is created. |
| Sort Codes A-Z | Edit | This button sorts the codes for the code list alphabetically. |
| Save Changes | Edit | This button is used to save the changes made to the code list. |
| Discard Changes | Edit | This button is used to discard the changes made to the code list. |
To edit a code list, the user can select the desired code list in the picklist, select a code row, edit its information in the "Edit Fields," then click "Save Changes."
